A University line manager is finding that conflict between two competent people he supervises is getting in the way of efficiency. Initially a conversation with him was set up to talk through running a day for the two of them to explore issues with a view to moving forward. Instead the manager was assisted to look at what he could do differently to achieve useful change and decided to proceed in this way.

A Practice manager is feeling undermined, confused and uncertain of her future in the practice. She needed to think through her situation which had become intolerable. We uncovered patterns of behaviour that run through her life which underpinned her contribution to the problems she was experiencing, which included intimidatory & bullying behaviour - a GP in the practice had been violent to the client. The client developed a greater understanding of the situation and how it was affecting her, and made significant changes in her life.

The Head of a small strategic unit within the health service. The client works in a complex, constantly changing environment. Ongoing support has been given over a period of several years. This has included: problem solving; teambuilding; analysing CPD needs; project work; assisting the client to review progress and prepare for meetings; providing a confidential outlet for the client.

A Head of Department in a college is very task orientated and has limited appreciation of how to manage staff. This has lead to grievances. He was helped to develop skills, appreciate different approaches to managing staff and increase his self-awareness.

A Receptionist needed the opportunity to think through whether she wanted to take on the role of reception manager. After reviewing how she felt about the situation and what she would like the outcome to be, she was assisted to draw up a plan to present to her line manager outlining proposed changes. This was accepted and has been implemented.
